What Is A Medically-Tailored Food Benefit?
Updated yesterday

A medically-tailored food benefit is a program that provides meals, groceries, and nutrition education to eligible individuals as a benefit through participating health insurance plans.

This benefit is designed to support your health without impacting other assistance programs like SNAP/EBT or requiring any fees or deductibles.

Your health insurance plan determines:

  • Eligibility: Whether you qualify for the benefit.

  • Box Type Options: Meal Box (Semi-Prepared or Ready-To-Eat) or Grocery Box

  • Live clinical support: One or more sessions with a Registered Dietitian via Telehealth.

  • Benefit Duration: How long you’ll receive meals.

Once you’re approved, Tangelo delivers your medically tailored food directly to your doorstep, making it easy to access the nutrition you need. As your benefit period progresses, we’ll keep you informed and let you know when it’s time to reapply.
